Private, Specialist Gambling Treatment in the UK
A discreet, evidence-based programme delivered by the UK’s most trusted name in gambling harm recovery.
WHO THIS IS FOR?
For Those Ready to Address Gambling Harm Seriously
For over 50 years, Gordon Moody has led specialist gambling treatment in the UK. The Retreat is the private arm of that work, a residential programme built for individuals and families who want clinical depth, discretion and a treatment approach designed specifically around gambling.
This is not a general addiction clinic. Every element of the programme has been built around the specific complexities of gambling behaviour, from the therapeutic model to the structure of residential care.
If you are based in the United States and exploring treatment options, The Retreat offers something the domestic market rarely provides: a programme built entirely around gambling harm, with independently measured outcomes and five decades of clinical experience behind it.
WHY CHOOSE THE RETREAT?
Why Families and Individuals Choose Us From Overseas
- Gambling-Specific Expertise Unlike clinics that treat gambling alongside other conditions, our programme is built entirely around gambling harm. This distinction matters clinically. It means every therapist, every session and every element of the structure has been designed with gambling behaviour in mind.
- Evidence-Led, Not Commercially Driven The Retreat is the private arm of Gordon Moody charity. We are not a commercial rehab competing on luxury or marketing. Our focus is on clinical rigour, structured therapy and long-term outcomes.
- Independently Measured Outcomes Our results are independently measured. We do not ask you to take our word for it.
- A Proven Legacy Gordon Moody has helped shape specialist understanding of gambling harm in the UK for more than five decades. Our name is not new to this field. It helped define it.
- Confidential From the Start From the first conversation to arrival and throughout the programme, discretion is built into everything we do.

What to Expect When Travelling From the US
We welcome enquiries and admissions from the United States. The process is straightforward and our team will support you at every stage.
Step 1: Start With a Confidential Consultation The first step is a free, no-commitment consultation with a member of our specialist admissions team. This happens by phone or video call at a time that works for you. It is an opportunity to ask questions, understand the programme and assess whether it is the right fit.
Step 2: Admissions Assessment If you decide to proceed, we will carry out a thorough admissions assessment. This helps us understand your situation and confirm the programme is clinically appropriate. This stage also takes place remotely before you travel.
Step 3: Travel and Arrival The Retreat is located in the West Midlands, UK. The nearest major airport is Birmingham Airport, which operates direct and connecting flights from major US cities. Please note that clients are strictly responsible for coordinating their own travel; our team does not provide travel logistics support or a meet-and-greet service upon arrival.
Step 4: The Programme Begins On arrival you will be welcomed by a member of the team and settled into the retreat before the programme begins. The full residential programme is conducted in English.
A Note on Cost and Payment The total cost for the programme is a flat fee of £15,000. Please note that we do not accept USD; all payments must be processed in GBP (Great British Pounds).
FOR FAMILIES
Support for Families and Partners
Many of our enquiries come from family members and partners who are seeking help on behalf of someone they love. We welcome these conversations.
Our admissions team will guide you through the options, explain the process and help you understand how to support your loved one through the decision to seek treatment.
Starting the conversation does not commit you to anything. It simply opens the door.
